44 years ago, The Bandera County Chamber of Commerce decided it was high time to show appreciation to the hundreds of deer hunters who visited Bandera County each fall. The hunters were fed by local ranchers in those early days. The Bandera Hunters BBQ was an instant success and has become a true Hill Country tradition.

The Bandera Country Chamber of Commerce Hunters BBQ & Outdoor Expo has become a community event. It is one of the most entertaining and anticipated events of the year as well as the primary fundraiser for the Bandera County Chamber of Commerce. Over 100 volunteers work hard during the festivity, some throughout the entire year, to produce this classic Fall event that has helped make Bandera famous. Approximately 4, 000 folks attend Hunters Weekend every year.
